Jack Wellhofer
Jack Wellhofer received his BS in chemical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2018. As an undergraduate student at RPI, he joined Dr. Tessa Pocock’s laboratory, working with Dr. Pocock on physiological analysis of plants grown under LED lighting in plant growth chambers. After graduation, he joined the laboratory full-time as a technician. His current GLASE research involves performing light response curves on lettuce using the 6-in-1 LED fixtures developed at RPI. He will be starting in the MPS program with a focus in controlled environment agriculture at Cornell University in Fall 2019.
“Plants are the world’s greatest chemical engineers. Through the work of GLASE and the advancement of LED lighting, we will better understand how to utilize their extraordinary biochemical abilities.” -Jack Wellhofer
